Welcome to Lee
County, 804-square-mile metropolitan area nestled along the Gulf Coast of
Southwest Florida.
The county and the
cities of Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Sanibel, and Fort Myers Beach was the
fourth fastest growing metro area in the United States during the 1980s.
That growth has
continued in the 1990s as residents, visitors and companies are attracted
by the area's mild climate, beautiful beaches and boundless business
opportunities.
Area temperatures
range from an average of 82 degrees in the summer to 64 degrees in the
winter.
The coastline along
the Gulf of Mexico is home to 50 miles of sandy beaches.
And the county's low
cost of living, abundant labor supply and growing business sector makes it
an ideal place for companies to locate or expand.
Our 374,398
residents welcome you and say, "We have the perfect climate for
growing business!"
Lee County has two
airports - Southwest Florida International Airport (commercial aviation)
and Page Field Airport (general aviation).
Southwest Florida
International Airport, located off interstate 75, is the 57th busiest
airport in the United States, serving domestic and international markets
as well as offering a full array of air cargo services.
The airport was
designed as a Foreign Trade Zone in 1996. In addition, a $900-million,
20-year expansion is being planned that will double the size of the
airport and add a second runway and midfield terminal.
Page Field, located
off U.S. 41, is one of the busiest general aviation airports in the United
States. It serves both business and recreational flyers.
